The cast of the much sought after live-action of Gintama gathered to celebrate the film’s premiere in Tokyo.
The entire main cast Shun Oguri, Masaki Suda, and Kanna Hashimoto were present in the premiere wearing yukata– a casual unlined summer kimono usually made of cotton or synthetic fabric. The film directors Yuichi Fukuda & Jiri Sato, who both donned a yukata as well, were also present in the event.
Unfortunately, Tsuyoshi was not present in the movie’s premiere due to his sudden deafness,
The live action film is based on the manga “Gintama” by Hideaki Sorachi which debuted in 2003. According to reports, Hideaki Sorachi chose Oguri Shun personally, making Oguri Shun the only candidate to play Sakata Gintoki. Gintama.
With the manga’s final arc to be released in July 11, Gintama continues to be ranked among the top-selling manga in Japan. The manga inspired a television anime that premiered in 2006 and continued until 2013 after a multiple breaks. The latest Gintama television anime series premiered in April 2015, and ended in March.
Gintama will be released to Japanese theaters nationwide on July 14th, 2017.
